Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Treatment (ages 6–17)
Inpatient care focuses on immediate crisis stabilization and resolution. 24-hour care is provided through a multidisciplinary treatment team including a psychiatrist, therapist, nurse or mental health technician, and discharge planner. Distinct program tracks serve the unique needs of children in the community, alongside added-value services that bring a sense of community and "home" to the hospital environment.
Therapeutic models:
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) — An evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma. This components-based model combines trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles, and is proven with children who have significant emotional problems (PTSD symptoms, fear, anxiety, depression) related to traumatic life events.
- Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) — A model that equips caregivers to support children with complex developmental trauma, built on three principles: Empowering (meeting physical needs), Connecting (meeting attachment needs), and Correcting (addressing fear-based behaviors).

Individual & Group Therapy
Evidence-based individual sessions and daily group therapy help each child understand what they're experiencing, practice healthy coping skills, and build confidence alongside peers.
Family Therapy & Parent Support
Families are partners in treatment. Family therapy sessions and parent support help caregivers understand their child's needs, strengthen communication, and prepare for a successful return home.
Discharge Planning & Aftercare Coordination
Discharge planning begins at admission. Our team coordinates with families, schools, and outpatient providers to build a clear aftercare plan that supports continued progress once a child leaves our care.

Assessments & Referrals
Starting the Assessment and Referral Process
The first step of the healing journey is letting someone know you need help. Perimeter is here to make this step as easy as possible.
Our process begins with a detailed assessment performed by one of our trained professionals. We will gather some information about you and develop a personalized plan of treatment. When you call our assessment and referral team, we will ask you a few questions to schedule a face-to-face appointment. During an in-person assessment, a mental health professional will continue to gather more information with a thorough evaluation including history, current medication, prior treatment, etc. This will help us make a recommendation about the best course of treatment for your unique situation which may be inpatient, outpatient or another treatment option.
If you are a behavioral health professional looking to set up a direct referral, you can fill out our “professional referral form” to help expedite the admissions process.
Referrals
- How to get started: free, confidential assessment, 24/7
- Who can refer: families directly; behavioral health professionals via our professional referral form
- Admissions contact: 334.319.8724

Family involvement
Communication
Therapists will be reaching out to the family either by email and/or phone. Sometimes we need additional information to provide the best treatment to the patient. Please be responsive when staff reaches out. They will provide you with their contact information in case you have any questions or concerns during the patient’s stay. Our therapists spend a lot of time with the patients providing them treatment and will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Family Session
Family involvement in treatment has shown to increase a patient’s response to treatment and for it to have a more enduring effect. We recognize the various responsibilities family members are managing and ask that you make time to meet with our therapists for this critical component of treatment.
Visitation
At Beacon Children's Hospital, we understand that a patient's family is a major part of healing and overcoming mental health challenges. We know many family members and parents fear not being able to see their loved one during treatment.
We offer scheduled visitation several times throughout the week.
For the safety of our patients, no personal belongings are allowed in the visitation area. Lockers will be provided for visitors to secure their items. Also, no outside food or drink is allowed in the visitation area. Visitation is restricted to family members 12 and older. Only two visitors are allowed at a time per patient. Each visitor must be on the approved list, provide an ID or driver’s license and have the patient’s ID number.
Phone time will be also provided for patients to have contact with their families and support system. Please refer to the program schedule or contact the facility for more details.
Discharge Planning
After treatment in our hospital, ongoing care will likely be required including a psychiatrist and therapist. We are required to have follow-up appointments scheduled prior to the patient’s discharge. We ask if you have preferred providers, that you let us know who they are. We can schedule the appointments or if you would prefer to make them to better accommodate your schedule, please just communicate who the appointments are with and the date and time. We also request that you include the patients primary care physician information. After treatment is complete, our staff will fax pertinent information such as psychiatric evaluation, medication information and the discharge plan to each of the next care providers. This ensures continuity of care and allows them all to be on the same page. We want the patient to have a smooth transition and to set them up for continued success.
Standard Charges Price Guide
It is important to note, a hospital “charge” is not the same as “expected payment.” A charge is the amount billed for a service. In the vast majority of cases, hospitals are paid considerably less than the billed amount. Hospital charges are based on the type of care provided and can differ from patient to patient for the same service. The differences between patients are related to complications or varying treatments needed due to the patient’s health.
Even though the hospital’s prices on our list are the same for all patients, actual charges for each specific patient may vary from the listed standard charges due to a combination of factors.
