Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Treatment (ages 6–17)
Inpatient care focuses on immediate crisis stabilization and resolution. Patients receive 24-hour care through a multidisciplinary treatment team including a psychiatrist, therapist, nurse or mental health technician, and discharge planner, with distinct program tracks and added-value services.
Child & Adolescent Residential Treatment (females, ages 12–17)
Our residential program is licensed as a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) by the Arkansas Department of Human Services and accredited by The Joint Commission. It is built on a foundation of Trauma-Informed Care — every aspect is designed to create an emotionally safe environment for residents and staff, recognizing the impact trauma has not just on residents but on families, caregivers, and clinicians.
A unique benefit: an acute care hospital is located on the same campus, allowing a smooth transition in the continuum of care by providing another level of care to residents who may experience an acute psychiatric crisis.
Neurodivergent Program (ages 6–17)
Specialized, sensory-friendly care for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and sensory processing needs. Learn more about our Neurodivergent Program.
Therapeutic Models
Our clinical team uses Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). We also offer Alpha-Stim, a non-invasive cranial electrotherapy stimulation device that can help reduce anxiety and improve sleep.
Recreational Therapy
Our recreational department engages with children daily, focusing on physical needs by structuring exercise and organized sports to teach teamwork, healthy peer interactions, and conflict resolution. Expressive therapy helps children express feelings and emotions through dance, music, and art.
Education
We provide on-site education with certified teachers who develop curriculum appropriate for all youth. Class sizes are small, and educational programs are tailored to individual needs based on IEPs, with special education teachers on staff. We work with the Arkansas Department of Education to provide Math, English/Language Arts, History, and Science, plus electives.
Common conditions
- Depression/Anxiety
- Mood Disorders
- ADD/ADHD
- Crisis Intervention and Stabilization
- Suicidal and Homicidal Ideation
- Trauma
Through our Neurodivergent Program, we also care for youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory processing challenges, aggression or self-injurious behavior, and difficulty regulating emotions or thriving in traditional settings.

Assessments & Referrals
Starting the Assessment and Referral Process
The first step of the healing journey is letting someone know you need help. Perimeter is here to make this step as easy as possible.
For our acute inpatient referrals, call 870-394-7100. Our process begins with a detailed assessment performed by one of our trained professionals. We will gather some information about you and develop a personalized plan of treatment. When you call our assessment and referral team, we will ask you a few questions in order to schedule a face-to-face appointment. During an in-person assessment, a mental health professional will continue to gather more information with a thorough evaluation including history, current medication, prior treatment, etc. This will help us make a recommendation about the best course of treatment for your unique situation which may be inpatient, outpatient or another treatment option.
Our process for a residential referral begins by calling 404-998-5618. Documents needed to help make a decision on placement include clinical records (current and past treatment records), Individualized Education Plan (IEP -if applicable), outpatient records (if applicable/ex: treatment plan, medication recommendations) and psychological evaluation (completed within the last 2 years). Once the information is received, the clinical team will review and determine the best treatment recommendation for the individual whether it is residential, acute inpatient or outpatient services. If residential treatment is recommended, the facility Referral Coordinator or the Account Manager will coordinate the admission with the appropriate care giver.
Perimeter Behavioral of West Memphis residential referral process often begins with a referral from a behavioral professional including acute inpatient, outpatient providers or Provider-Led Arkansas Shared Saving Entity (PASSE) care coordinators. In addition to working with providers in the state of Arkansas, we also have built solid relationships with referral sources throughout the entire United States. Our clinical team will review any referral to ensure we are helping families find the most appropriate level of care for their loved one.
Mobile Assessments
Perimeter Behavioral of West Memphis provides face to face assessments in the community for patients and families through their mobile assessment platform. A licensed professional counselor will meet with the child in a safe and secure location to perform a level of care assessment and to make a recommendation for treatment. Often these assessments are for suicidal, homicidal or for aggressive behaviors. If inpatient hospitalization is recommended, transportation to the facility will be arranged. A request for a mobile assessment can be made by calling the assessment and referral department at 870-394-7100. These assessments are available Monday through Friday from 8:00-4:30 p.m. by request only.
Referrals
Families can contact us directly. Residential referrals often come from behavioral health professionals, including acute inpatient and outpatient providers and PASSE care coordinators, and we partner with referral sources nationwide.
For residential referrals, please send clinical records, IEP (if applicable), outpatient records (if applicable), and a psychological evaluation completed within the last 2 years. Our clinical team reviews each referral to recommend the right level of care.
Residential exclusion criteria: FSIQ below 70, pregnancy, and medical issues requiring extensive or ongoing attention.
We are Here to Help

Family involvement
Communication
Therapists will be reaching out to the family either by email and/or phone. Sometimes we need additional information to provide the best treatment to the patient. Please be responsive when staff reaches out. They will provide you with their contact information in case you have any questions or concerns during the patient’s stay. Our therapists spend a lot of time with the patients providing them treatment and will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Family Session
Family involvement in treatment has shown to increase a patient’s response to treatment and for it to have a more enduring effect. We recognize the various responsibilities family members are managing and ask that you make time to meet with our therapists for this critical component of treatment.
Visitation
At Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of West Memphis, we understand that a patient's family is a major part of healing and overcoming mental health challenges. We know many family members and parents fear not being able to see their loved one during treatment.
We offer visitation for our patients and their families several days a week for our acute program and scheduled visitation as well as possible home visits for our residential program. Please note that visitation may be held virtually to help prevent the spread of communicable illnesses.
For the safety of our patients, no personal belongings are allowed in the visitation area. Lockers will be provided for visitors to secure their items. Also, no outside food or drink is allowed in the visitation area. Visitation is restricted to family members 12 and older. Only two visitors are allowed at a time per patient. Each visitor must be on the approved list, provide an ID or driver’s license and have the patient’s ID number.
Phone time will be also provided for patients to have contact with their families and support system. Please refer to the program schedule or contact the facility for more details.
Discharge Planning
After treatment in our hospital, ongoing care will likely be required including a psychiatrist and therapist. We are required to have follow-up appointments scheduled prior to the patient’s discharge. We ask if you have preferred providers, that you let us know who they are. We can schedule the appointments or if you would prefer to make them to better accommodate your schedule, please just communicate who the appointments are with and the date and time. We also request that you include the patients primary care physician information. After treatment is complete, our staff will fax pertinent information such as psychiatric evaluation, medication information and the discharge plan to each of the next care providers. This ensures continuity of care and allows them all to be on the same page. We want the patient to have a smooth transition and to set them up for continued success.
Standard Charges Price Guide
It is important to note, a hospital “charge” is not the same as “expected payment.” A charge is the amount billed for a service. In the vast majority of cases, hospitals are paid considerably less than the billed amount. Hospital charges are based on the type of care provided and can differ from patient to patient for the same service. The differences between patients are related to complications or varying treatments needed due to the patient’s health.
Even though the hospital’s prices on our list are the same for all patients, actual charges for each specific patient may vary from the listed standard charges due to a combination of factors.
