Programs & Levels of Care
Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Treatment (ages 12–17)
Inpatient care focuses on immediate crisis stabilization and resolution, with 24-hour care through a multidisciplinary treatment team including psychiatrists, therapists, nurses or mental health technicians, and a discharge planner. Programs are designed around the needs of each patient and family, with distinct program tracks and added-value services.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) — An evidence-based treatment for adolescents affected by trauma. TF-CBT blends trauma-sensitive, cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic approaches to address PTSD symptoms, fear, anxiety, and depression.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) — A model that equips caregivers to support youth with complex developmental trauma, built on three principles: Empowering (meeting physical needs), Connecting (meeting attachment needs), and Correcting (addressing fear-based behaviors).

Adult Inpatient Services (18+)
Psychiatric care and stabilization for adults, with patients' physical and emotional safety as our first priority. Our intensive therapeutic structure provides medical and psychiatric stabilization and 24-hour nursing care from a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, activities therapists, counselors, and social workers. Our goal is to stabilize the immediate crisis and prepare patients to return to their communities with skills for emotional growth, healthy relationships, and independence. Treatment emphasizes medication management, group and family therapy, and relapse prevention education.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment — For patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, we treat both conditions together, since untreated mental health concerns often drive addiction.

Assessments & Referrals
Starting the Assessment and Referral Process
The first step of the healing journey is letting someone know you need help. Perimeter is here to make this step as easy as possible.
Our process begins with a detailed assessment performed by one of our trained professionals. We will gather some information about you and develop a personalized plan of treatment. When you call our assessment and referral team, we will ask you a few questions to schedule a face-to-face appointment. During an in-person assessment, a mental health professional will continue to gather more information with a thorough evaluation including history, current medication, prior treatment, etc. This will help us make a recommendation about the best course of treatment for your unique situation which may be inpatient, outpatient or another treatment option.
If you are a behavioral health professional looking to set up a direct referral, you can fill out our “professional referral form” to help expedite the admissions process.
Referrals

- Who can refer: families directly; behavioral health professionals; walk-ins welcome

Family involvement
Communication
Therapists will be reaching out to the family either by email and/or phone. Sometimes we need additional information to provide the best treatment to the patient. Please be responsive when staff reaches out. They will provide you with their contact information in case you have any questions or concerns during the patient’s stay. Our therapists spend a lot of time with the patients providing them treatment and will get back to you as quickly as possible.
Family Session
Family involvement in treatment has shown to increase a patient’s response to treatment and for it to have a more enduring effect. We recognize the various responsibilities family members are managing and ask that you make time to meet with our therapists for this critical component of treatment.
Visitation
At Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas, we understand that a patient's family is a major part of healing and overcoming mental health challenges. We know many family members and parents fear not being able to see their loved one during treatment.
We offer scheduled visitation several times throughout the week.
For the safety of our patients, no personal belongings are allowed in the visitation area. Lockers will be provided for visitors to secure their items. Also, no outside food or drink is allowed in the visitation area. Visitation is restricted to family members 12 and older. Only two visitors are allowed at a time per patient. Each visitor must be on the approved list, provide an ID or driver’s license and have the patient’s ID number.
Phone time will be also provided for patients to have contact with their families and support system. Please refer to the program schedule or contact the facility for more details.
Discharge Planning
After treatment in our hospital, ongoing care will likely be required including a psychiatrist and therapist. We are required to have follow-up appointments scheduled prior to the patient’s discharge. We ask if you have preferred providers, that you let us know who they are. We can schedule the appointments or if you would prefer to make them to better accommodate your schedule, please just communicate who the appointments are with and the date and time. We also request that you include the patients primary care physician information. After treatment is complete, our staff will fax pertinent information such as psychiatric evaluation, medication information and the discharge plan to each of the next care providers. This ensures continuity of care and allows them all to be on the same page. We want the patient to have a smooth transition and to set them up for continued success.
Standard Charges Price Guide
It is important to note, a hospital “charge” is not the same as “expected payment.” A charge is the amount billed for a service. In the vast majority of cases, hospitals are paid considerably less than the billed amount. Hospital charges are based on the type of care provided and can differ from patient to patient for the same service. The differences between patients are related to complications or varying treatments needed due to the patient’s health.
Even though the hospital’s prices on our list are the same for all patients, actual charges for each specific patient may vary from the listed standard charges due to a combination of factors.
During your Stay
Daily Groups
A masters level therapist will provide two types of groups a day: processing and psychoeducational. Processing groups will allow you time to discuss current and past stressors, traumas, and better understanding of your feelings. Psychoeducation groups will teach you new skills such as anger management, communication, accountability and much more.
A Recreational Therapist will plan two groups a day that include activities that are educational, fun, and therapeutic.
Nurses will provide one group a day to teach patients about general health topics.
Mental Health Technicians will provide two groups a day to set goals, complete activity sheets, and practice relaxation techniques.
Individual Session
Your therapist will be meeting with you periodically throughout your treatment stay to ensure your treatment goals are being met and address any concerns you may have.
Family Therapy
Your therapist will contact the family within 24 hours to provide an update, answer any questions and gather any additional needed information. They will schedule a family session within 72 hours of admission. This will provide them a better understanding of the home dynamics which could impact treatment goals. Education on mental health issues can also be provided if needed.
Medication Management
Your psychiatric team will meet with you to do an initial psychiatric evaluation and then see you throughout your stay to make any necessary adjustments to your medication. During your inpatient stay, medication will be provided and administered by our nurses.
