Chief Executive Officer
Dereck has been working with youth who have traumatic life experiences and problematic behaviors since 2010. He received his bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Development at Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista Virginia, and his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo Michigan and became a licensed therapist. Dereck worked as a therapist at a residential facility that served boys and girls ages 12-18 years old, and developed adolescent sex offender specific programming at the facility to more appropriately meet the resident’s treatment needs. He then transitioned to the role of Clinical Director of a 60-bed adolescent sex offender treatment facility in Mountain Home Idaho where he continued program development and ensured that the residents received best practice treatment. Prior to coming to Perimeter of the Ozarks, he worked in New York in a community clinic as a Sex Offender Treatment Specialist. It was during this time that he received additional training in Trauma Informed Care practices as well as in Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics which looks at effects of trauma on an individual throughout the lifespan. Dereck is licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and will be obtaining licensure in Arkansas as a Licensed Professional Counselor. His favorite part of his job is seeing the personal growth that a resident experiences when they learn effective new ways to respond to life events, and that life does not have to be what it was. That who they are, and who they will become is not yet written. That it is in their power to decide how their story ends. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He also likes golfing, fishing, and most outdoor activities.
Dr. Stnaley is native to Arkansas. He went to Arkansas State University for undergraduate and then University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences for his medical school training, which is where he developed his passion for mental health. He ended up in a combined residency program where he trained as a general pediatrician, general psychiatrist and child and adolescent psychiatrist at the University of Kentucky. He completed that program and has been practicing psychiatry in Northwest Arkansas since 2010. The most rewarding part of his job as a psychiatrist is seeing a child go from struggling on a daily basis with their self-worth and a desire to not be alive to them thriving and realizing their own worth in this world ajd helping children shed their past trauma and blossom into a new way of thinking. In his spare time he likes to smoke meats, play golf and spend time with his family and enjoys getting to the beach when he can.
Director of Nursing
Trevor began his nursing career in 2019 after graduating from the nursing program at the University of Arkansas where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a registered nurse in the state. He started at Perimeter as a Youth Care Worker and became a nurse at the facility once he received his license. Trevor is also a certified SAMA instructor. What Trevor enjoys the most about working with the youth at Perimeter of the Ozarks is being able to see the drastic changes with the residents and by helping them navigate their challenges with our trauma informed care program. When not working with the residents at the facility, Trevor enjoys spending time and biking with his wife and taking their two four legged friends to the dog park. He also enjoys playing the piano and bass guitar.
