Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma. It is a components-based treatment model that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. TF-CBT has proved successful with children and adolescents who have significant emotional problems (e.g., symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, fear, anxiety, or depression) related to traumatic life events.
TBRI
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a therapeutic model that trains caregivers to provide effective support and treatment for at-risk children. Children and youth who are from hard places have often experienced complex developmental trauma, demonstrating an interactive set of psychological and behavioral issues. TBRI is a holistic, attachment-based, evidence based, and trauma informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. The three principles of TBRI include: Empowering Principles (addressing the physical needs of the child), Connecting Principles (addressing the attachment needs of the child) and the Correcting Principles (addressing the fear-based behaviors of the child). We are very excited to provide TBRI to the communities we work with and help our children live a more healthy and positive life.
Treatment and Therapies
Perimeter Behavioral Hospital recognizes that each person has unique needs, which is why an individually tailored treatment plan is developed for each patient. The main components of care include diagnostic evaluation, solution focused treatment, group therapy, behavioral strategies, medication evaluation and management, aftercare planning, family education and strategies to enhance quality of life.
Child and Adolescent Residential Treatment
The male and female psychiatric units at Perimeter of Jackson are a blend of individualized care and therapeutic intervention. We provide a gender specific environment that incorporates proven clinical methods to help children and adolescents cultivate their strengths and become productive members of the community. Clearly defined expectations allow residents to achieve rewards through positive participation and behavior while increasing age-appropriate social skills through interaction with other adolescents and residential treatment staff.
The residential treatment program is built on a foundation of Trauma Informed Care. Every aspect of the program is designed to create an emotionally safe environment for residents and staff. We realize the impact trauma causes, not just on our residents, but also for the people working with them including family, caregivers, and other clinicians. We strive to implement this knowledge and understanding into all our programs as well as staff education.
Begin the Process....
The referral process for the residential programs looks at more detailed information than our acute program starting with gathering criteria to determine level of care including a psychiatric and psychological evaluation, medical, physician and medication history, school information including an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and discharge summaries from any recent hospitalization.
Exclusion criteria includes Full-Scale Intelligence Quotient (FSIQ) below 70, pregnancy and medical issues that require extensive/ongoing attention by medical professionals.
