Child and Adolescent Inpatient Treatment

Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Dallas offers inpatient behavioral health treatment to children from 5 to 17 years of age. Inpatient care focuses on providing immediate crisis stabilization and resolution. Our 24-hour care is provided through our multi-disciplinary treatment team including our psychiatrist, therapist, nurse or the mental health technician and discharge planner.

We know that seeking treatment can be emotionally challenging for families, therefore we designed our programs with our patients and their families' individualized needs in mind.

We offer distinct program tracks to better serve the unique needs of the children within our community. We also offer an array of added-value services to bring a sense of community and "home" to the hospital environment.

Signs you might consider seeking mental health treatment in your child might include:

  • Over-reactions to Disappointments or Failures
  • Persistent Crying
  • Sudden Weight Loss or Lack of Hygiene
  • Changes in Behavior (Disorganization, Pacing, Rocking, Grimacing)
  • Substance Use
  • Gender Identity Issues
  • Isolation from Friends and Family
  • Flat Emotional Responses
  • Lethargy and Fatigue/Lack of Motivation
  • Suicidal Talk or Actions

While these are some signs to seek treatment, this is not an all-inclusive list. If you have any concerns, please ask for help.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma. It is a components-based treatment model that incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. TF-CBT has proved successful with children and adolescents who have significant emotional problems (e.g., symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, fear, anxiety, or depression) related to traumatic life events.

TBRI

Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a therapeutic model that trains caregivers to provide effective support and treatment for at-risk children. Children and youth who are from hard places have often experienced complex developmental trauma, demonstrating an interactive set of psychological and behavioral issues. TBRI is a holistic, attachment-based, evidence based, and trauma informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. The three principles of TBRI include: Empowering Principles (addressing the physical needs of the child), Connecting Principles (addressing the attachment needs of the child) and the Correcting Principles (addressing the fear-based behaviors of the child). We are very excited to provide TBRI to the communities we work with and help our children live a more healthy and positive life.
